Description
This is an extremely nice, silver,
"One Shilling"
from Australia. It was struck at the Melbourne mint in 1916 during the reign of King George V. He was King from 1910 until 1936.
The first
"Shillings"
were struck for Australia in 1910 during the last year of the reign of King Edward VII. From 1911 until 1915 they were struck for King George V here at the Royal mint in London, or some of the 1915’s in Birmingham, then shipped half way around the world. This is the first year they were struck in Melbourne.
Weight: 5.64 Gram, 24 Millimeter, .925 Silver. Mintage: 5,141,000.

The Coin:
A gently toned, still lustrous specimen. It saw some hands and earned the light wear, minor marks and dirt. Fully original, it has never been cleaned. As grading is subjective, please see the pictures and judge for yourself.
