A superb and rare photo of the Bimota HDB1 500cc works racer. This bike is a combination of a Bimota and an Aermacchi Harley-Davidson motorcycle that was developed in 1976. This photo was taken during a photo shoot on the 6th of March of 1976 at the Bimota factory in
Rimini
,
Italy
. The new Bimota 500cc racer was powered by a 6-speed, 90 bhp at 10,500 rpm, watercooled 500cc twin cylinder 4-carburettor (Aermacchi) Harley-Davidson two stroke engine. The bike was first displayed during the Milan Motor show of 1975.
This was a Bimota works racer, which was mostly ridden by Bimota works rider Vanes Francini, but also by Walter Villa and Paolo Scattolari. The best race result for the bike, was 3rd at
Mugello
,
Italy
during the 1976 Italian Championship.
