    Description

    WE
    ARE
    CLEARING OUT OUR ARCHIVES!
    A superb and rare image
    of the
    winning
    Ducati 750 TT1 Formula 1 factory racer
    , ridden by
    Luis Miguel Reyes.
He is seen during a nightly pitstop during the
    1983
    edition of the prestigious
    Spanish 24 Hours of Montjuich
. Luis Miguel Reyes rode to victory together with
    Benjamin Grau
    and
    Enrique De Juan
. They covered a total of
    708 laps
, which at Montjuich counts for
    2,683.780 km
    (
    1,667.62 mi
    )
    !
In the early 1970’s, long distance racing was extremely popular in
    Europe
. These events were responsible for the quick gaining popularity of the heavier sports motorcycle, like the Ducati 750 SS, the Moto Guzzi V7 Sport, The Moto Guzzi 850 Le Mans and the Benelli 650 Tornado, the BMW R 90 S Daytona and the Laverda SFC 750; but also the Japanese sports motorcycles like the Kawasaki 350, 500 and 750 triples, but also heavy four strokes like the Honda CB 750 Four. Riders that would make world fame, like Franco Uncini and Marco Lucchinelli, all participated in these races before they made the steps to the Grand Prix World Championship racing scene. The foundation for today’s Superbike racing series was laid in the 1980’s, when the TT Formula 1 and TT Formula 2 racing classes became very popular. Ducati had with the 750 TTF1 a formidable machine that evolved into a fine road bike too: the Ducati 750 F1.
