    Description

A superb photo of the absolutely magnificent
    Harley-Davidson 250 CRTT, or Aermacchi – HD 250 Ala d’Oro
as it was named in Europe, in action during the
    250cc Lightweight Manx Grand Prix
    on the
    Isle of Man
    in
    1965
    .
    Shown is
    Colin McPherson
    F
    enton
, on his way to a great
    4th
finish place. His Aermacchi – Harley Davidson was
the first four stroke to finish the race
! No wonder, as the H-D CRTT ‘s or Ala d’ Oro ‘s were incredibly fast.
Fenton finished the race in a time of
    1.44.26’4”
, which was good for an average speed of no less then
    86.72 mph
(139,56 km/hr)! He also achieved 4TH place in practice, which was not bad in a starting field of 96 riders!
The road going version of the American CRTT was known as the
    Harley-Davidson Sprint
    .
