    Description

A superb and rare photo. Shown is Jimmy Guthrie sitting on his 500cc works Norton racing machines shortly finishing second in the Isle of Man 500cc Senior T.T. race. In 1932 Norton scored this magnificent 1 - 2 - 3 when Woods won the race, before Guthrie (2
    nd
    ) and Simpson (3
    rd
). This magnificent photo was taken shortly after the race, in which Simpson also broke the lap record with an average speed of
    81.50 mph
on the Norton which is shown on the photo with nr. 15.
    Stanley
Woods, on the Norton with nr. 27, broke the race record with an average speed of
    79.38 mph
! Joe Craig, Norton’s famous racing team director and designer of the photographed machine was also on hand. Norton wrote in 1932 history on the
    Isle of Man
as it showed their immense might at the TT races of that era. The Isle of Man TT was considered the most important race of the season. There was no World Championship at the time, but a victory in the IOM TT counted as such nevertheless.
This is a nice and rare opportunity to obtain a non period photo of three of the greatest motorcycle riders of all time, it is a very historic image that not only has a lot of historic value but also looks marvellous, framed or unframed!
