A superb and rare photo of the
Laverda 500 twin of 1977
.
The Laverda 500 twin entered production in 1977.
Technologically the engine had a lot in common with the 1000cc triple engine.
Just like its bigger brother it featured a d.o.h.c. engine.
It had a bore and stroke of 72 x
61 mm
. The bike could be propelled to a top speed of
112 mph
( 180 kmh ) !
A smaller 350cc version was also build and because of its excellent performance a racing version was also made.

, and shows the
500
from that year.
In the
USA
, Laverda was also marketed under the
American Eagle
name.
A very nice
non period
photo that reflects a wonderful era of Laverda’s glorious history in a wonderful way.
