Description
A superb and rare photo of the1936 Rudge 250
racing model
with the Italian racing ace
Gustl Valenta
.
Interestingly, Valenta rode in 1934 for the Scuderia Ferrari racing team.
Few know that Enzo Ferrari, founder of the Ferrari car factory and the Ferrari F1 Formula One racing stable, also was the proprietor of a motorcycle racing team throughout the 1930s.
The name of this racing team was “ Scuderia Ferrari “
(Racing Team Ferrari).
The Scuderia Ferrari bikes were immaculately prepared.
Valenta’s Rudge shows this as well with the extra and for the time extremely rare streamlining at the front.
Rudge motorcycles were produced from 1911 to 1946. The firm was known for its innovations in engine and transmission design, and its racing successes. Their sales motto was "Rudge it, do not trudge it."
Selling re-badged
Werners
in 1909, the company went on to produce their first motorcycle in 1911.
This photo reflects a very interesting and historic piece of motorcycling and Rudge history. Therefore it is printed in a nice large format of ca. 8" x 10" (ca. 20 x 26 cm).
